Why Judo?

Judo is not only the safest Martial Art and Olympic contact sport.

It is FUN and great to keep fit at all ages!

The founder of Judo, Jigoro Kano, took a martial art removed the dangerous kick and punch techniques then added his philisophy about education, “oneself” and our role in society.

Creating Judo in 1892.
Judo has since then become the sport of millions and the first Martial Art to be represented at the Olympics.

The Core Values of Judo are:

Courtesy, Courage, Friendship, Honesty, Honor, Modesty, Respect and Self-control.

Whether you want to train recreationally or take it one step further and compete.

At our club we caters for both!

Club members compete at all levels, from fun judo festivals where all get a medal, through development competitions to the national championships.

Some members are also competing internationally in Europe!

Whatever the competition level, judo competitions have a basic competition structure.

Note:
Strangles and armlocks can be practised safely at training by our qualified coaches from an age of 12+ but within competitions are only allowed from an age of 14+ and at the higest competition levels, lvl 3 & 4 domestically and internationally.
